Many teachers, schools and practitioners started referring to the practice as ‘Thai Yoga Massage’ in the late 80s and 90s to differentiate their approach from both ‘cookie cutter’ massage parlors and the sex trade which seemed to be synonymous with Thai Massage. Nowadays, depending on where you live, the term Thai Massage may still have that connotation. But in many places Thai Massage and Thai Yoga Massage are interchangeable as names and for well established high quality education.
