How Our System Works

The truth is, there are no shortcuts to mastery. If you want to be the best practitioner you can be, practice is the way. At the same time, massage therapists, yoga teachers, yoginis and yogis along with professionals across the health care world often say how blown away they are with what they learn, the results they see with their clients and how good it feels to give -and receive. They come to us because of the support they feel and the confidence they gain in having all the tools to give an outstanding massage from the get-go. And it just gets better from there. We teach Thai Yoga Massage in Berkeley and San Francisco, as well as at our satellite locations in Hamilton Ontario and Sydney Australia. We also offer regular courses at retreat centers and yoga studios across New England and North America. Some of our regular venues include the Kripalu Center, the Omega Institute, 1440 Multiversity, Kaia Yoga (in Westport Connect).

Is it possible to give an outstanding massage after two days of training?

Thai Massage combines the best of yoga, massage, meditation and energy work into a powerful healing modality. Among its many benefits, clients report an amazing ability for the massage to help remove tension, eliminate pain in the neck, shoulders, back and legs and to feel more youthful, deeply relaxed and refreshed.

These classes are designed for yoga teachers, massage therapists and those without any experience. In addition to the massage itself, yoga teachers will be able to gain confidence and knowledge for giving assists, incorporate Thai Massage into their classes and have a new treatment to offer private students. Massage therapists will be able to start offering a new modality to their clients right away. And those without any experience can give a high-level massage even after one weekend of training.

In Level 1 Thai Massage Foundations you will learn a complete 75-minute massage:

This is the first level of a two-part certification program. Students will be required to complete the two levels and a series of practice massages as part of the certification process, but will already be able to give a complete 75-minute massage after finishing this class.

Level 2 Thai Massage Foundations

This class builds on level one by adding 45 minutes of new massage techniques, reinforcing all Level 1 material, and introducing students to the fundamentals of Ayurveda, the ancient Indian healing system and sister science to yoga. Level 2 teaches students practical, hands-on methods for customizing the massage holistically in order to deepen the therapeutic quality of their practice.

As students learn the fundamentals of Ayurvedic principles and the three mind-body constitutions (Vata, Pitta, and Kapha), they will apply these concepts to craft highly customized massages that address physical needs, enhance client relationships, and create a unique massage experience. Learning how to give massage with ones’ knees will help to reduce reliance on hands and thumbs and facilitate deep pressure massage.

Level 2 Foundations in Thai Massage focuses on:

Required reading: Thai Massage: Unlocking the Secrets of Universal Touch by Shai Plonski
Required Preparation: Ahead of level 2, there are Ayurveda videos and exercises that students will be asked to do ahead of class time to familiarize themselves with the three doshas and how to complete an ayurvedic questionnaire.
These courses are accredited with NCBTMB for continuing education and can be used as continuing education with Yoga Alliance.
